The latest sunbeams of the day hit the little piles of rock around my historical 35 year old yellow Lafuma tent. While the last sounds in the valley fade away, I realize that I will be alone on the summit of this peak in the Italian Dolomites. But, from a historical perspective I am not alone. At the beginning of the twentieth century this place was the core of a heavy combat zone. That is what the little bench and the crucifix symbolize: freedom and commemoration.
